Protection Against Chronic Lung Diseases with the Help of High-Quality Food

Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, such as bronchitis or the destruction of the pulmonary tissue by emphysema are the third most frequently cause of death worldwide after cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

Generally, the renouncement of smoking is recommended to limit the serious damage to the lower respiratory tract. Also a high-quality diet can help to strengthen the resistance to these diseases. A team of US-American and French scientists found out that the consumption of foods rich in whole grain, polyunsaturated fats and nuts and containing less red or highly processed meat, sugar and refined grain helps to reduce the risk of chronic pulmonary disease.
