The Museum of Food Additives

“You are what you eat! “

Since Hippocrates, this conviction is used in many preventive concepts and is always interpreted differently.

But what do we really eat?

The German Museum of Food Additives in Hamburg provides an insight into the ingredients, which, contain our food – allowed or prohibited. Aromas, coloring and preservatives, binding agents, release and thickening agents, enzymes and emulsifiers are used to process our foodstuffs and make them more durable. Many of these food additives are also consumed later. How they work is explained by the exhibits in the museum as well as presented in videos and in a lexicon.
