Model World Contract

According to the concept of a German-American research team published in the “Science“ magazine, the production of sufficient food for the growing world population without straining the land and water resources of the earth even more, does no longer seem to be a utopian idea.

The scientific ideas concerning the sustainable and environment-friendly securing of the food supply have been deducted from the concrete geographic characteristics of particularly important regions of the earth in terms of agriculture and environmental technology.

They are summarised in three recommendations regarding an intelligent reform of international agricultural policies which recommendations are both simple and efficient: increase of crop yields only where the highest growth rates can be expected, proportionate use of farmland for human nutrition and drastic reduction of food wasting.
